As prices continue to rise, people are trying to find ways to cut back on spending and save money. Unfortunately for students, the rising price of college tuition, gasoline, and food can make this even more difficult. Increasing numbers of people are turning to distance learning to help them complete the college degree programs of their choice.

Top online school and online degree university programs are rapidly expanding their list of course offerings to make this objective possible for students.  As we discussed earlier, the most popular major choice among college students today is business management degree programs.  Numerous distance learning degree programs offer online business degrees.

The second most popular major is psychology. Distance education psychology programs offer excellent educational opportunities and are flexible and convenient as well. Many students choose a psychology degree as a foundational degree for graduate programs such as law school or even political science. Others are intent on becoming counselors or psychologists. Distance learning psychology degree majors can help motivated students achieve either of these goals without requiring daily trips to and from a traditional college campus.

Online degree schools offer a number of flexible options to help you earn the degree you have always wanted - without breaking the bank and consuming all your financial resources in the process.  Evaluate the variety of programs available from accredited universities to see which one is right for you. Can You Really Get a Nursing Degree Online?

Can You Really Get a Nursing Degree Online?

Many online degree schools offer nursing programs online, but can you really complete all the necessary requirements and become a Registered Nurse (RN) without ever going through clinical experiences or spending endless hours in a classroom?

The truth is, most of these online degree programs are designed for RNs who already have their license and have at least one year of professional experience. A few distance education programs, such as Excelsior College (formerly Regents College), once offered degree programs that led to nursing licensure. However, liability, experience, and competency issues have led this distance education online program, and every other, to discontinue entry-level nursing programs.

Therefore, most of the distance learning degree programs available allow RNs who have an Associate’s Degree to earn a Bachelor Degree online. Some also offer online graduate programs for nurses who already have a Bachelor’s Degree. Chamberlain College of Nursing and Jacksonville University both offer RN to BSN programs. (These are also known as BSN completion programs). Many other top online schools also offer RN to BSN programs; just search through the list of programs offered by the top distance degree programs listed on this website.

If you are like most nurses, you are busy trying to meet the demands of family and career. Finding time to go back to school can be extremely difficult. Online degree programs offer the flexibility to make this possible. Sharpen your skills, enhance your resume, and further your education by enrolling in a distance degree program today!

Distance Learning Online: Are the Degrees Genuine?

Some distance degree programs sound almost too good to be true. They advertise that you can get a degree in only eight to fourteen months through a college degree program. What they fail to tell you, however, is that they aren’t accredited.

How important is accreditation for online degree schools? If your degree isn’t from an accredited university, it is absolutely worthless. You won’t be able to take exams or get certification in the career field you choose. In fact, unless you are very fortunate, you may even get a degree in a career path that doesn’t even exist. For example, a few universities offer online business degrees in tax preparation.

What they don’t tell you is this isn’t really a college degree - it is a certificate program. Further, you may or may not receive enough information about the program to actually prepare taxes. Often, people who want to earn a degree online fall for these scams and find themselves out several thousand dollars and a lot of time and energy.

You cannot, no matter what some sites tell you, get a college degree online in ten days. You cannot get a degree based completely on life experience. And, if your degree isn’t from an accredited university, such as the ones listed on this site, it is worthless.

Finally, if you get a fake degree from online programs, and apply for a job based on that degree, understand that you are committing fraud. As the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) begins to crack down on these programs, often referred to as diploma mills, they are strongly advising companies to make sure applicants’ degrees and credentials are genuine. You, and your company, can be held liable for fraud if your degree isn’t real.
